Let's HOPP to it!
Let's HOPP to it!
Symphony Concert
In Ödön von Horváth’s play Zur schönen Aussicht, a character remarks: ‘I’m actually quite different, but I so rarely get the chance to show it!’ It’s at the arrival of the New Year 2027 that Max Hopp, a frequent guest star at the Komische Oper, will have just such an opportunity to present himself onstage in an entirely different light: as the architect of a symphonic concert.
The programme, devised by Max Hopp along with Music Director James Gaffigan, remains for now a closely guarded secret. But one thing is for sure: Max Hopp will not leave the stage without having sung. And as Werner Richard Heymann’s song ‘Hoppla, jetzt komm ich!’ so memorably puts it: ‘I’d like to snatch a morsel from the great wide world, and live a little life exactly as I please.’
