Otto Pichler
Born in Austria, he trained at the Ballet School of the Landestheater Salzburg and at the Studio of the Theater an der Wien and has worked exclusively as a choreographer and director since 2000.
Otto Pichler has a longstanding collaboration with the Komische Oper Berlin and its artistic director and chief director, Barrie Kosky. His choreographies have been featured here in productions such as Anatevka, Candide, Die Perlen der Cleopatra, Die Nase; Kiss Me, Kate; Orpheus, Die Sieben Todsünden, Ball im Savoy, Die schöne Helena, The Bassarids, Frühlingsstürme, and West Side Story, for which he also served as co-director.

As a choreographer, he has worked at venues including the Theater Linz (Die Großherzogin von Gerolstein, Im Weißen Rößl), the State Theater Hannover (Anatevka, My Fair Lady, Das Rheingold), Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden (Orpheus and Eurydike), Schauspielhaus Wien (Das Schloss), at the Semperoper Dresden (Die Fledermaus, Penthesilea), as well as at the Schwetzingen Festival (Ezio) and the Salzburg Festival (Mitridate). At the Cologne Opera, he developed the choreography for Turandot, Jonny spielt auf, Das Schlaue Füchslein; Kiss Me, Kate, and Krieg und Frieden. He was also the choreographer for the new production of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, directed by Günter Krämer at the Opéra Bastille in Paris. During the 2018/2019 season, he created the choreography for Evita (Stadttheater Klagenfurt), Les Boréades (Opéra de Dijon), and La forza del destino (Royal Opera House London and Nationale Opera Amsterdam).
He also directed Jesus Christ Superstar, Jekyll und Hyde, and Zwei Herzen im Dreivierteltakt (Landestheater Coburg), Hello Dolly (Landestheater Linz), Die Csárdásfürstin (Theater Augsburg, Theater Magdeburg), Märchen im Grand-Hotel (Staatstheater Nürnberg), and Die lustige Witwe (Theater Dortmund).
