Julia Kornacka, a costume designer born in Łódź, studied fashion design at the Academy of Fine Arts in her hometown. She has worked at numerous theaters in Poland (National Theater in Kraków, National Theater in Warsaw, Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, Wrocław Opera, Teatr Polski in Wrocław) as well as internationally, including in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (Staatstheater Stuttgart, Thalia Theater Hamburg, theater junge generation Dresden, Theater Freiburg, Theater Dortmund, Komische Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Residenztheater München, Schauspielhaus Graz, Theater Luzern, Theater St. Gallen, Bühnen Bern), in France (Opéra de Lyon, Opéra de Lille), and in Spain (Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona).

She has collaborated with directors such as Ewelina Marciniak, Anna Smolar, Wojtek Klemm, Anna Badora, John Fulljames, Michał Zadara, Barbara Wysocka, Krzysztof Garbaczewski, and Monika Strzępka. In 2020, she received the Thalia Friends Award in memory of Eva Bonacker, as well as the Young Talent Award for outstanding achievements in stage design.

Her first costume design at the Komische Oper Berlin was created in 2016 for Geschichten aus dem Wiener Wald. In the 2025/26 season, she returns for the production of Orlando, directed by Ewelina Marciniak.
