Guest Soloist - Soprano
Ambur Braid
Canadian soprano Ambur Braid is known for her psychologically compelling performances and her radiant vocal power. She is one of the most fascinating sopranos of her generation. 2026 marks another defining chapter in Braid’s career: At the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Ambur Braid will make her debut as “The Dyer’s Wife” in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Richard Strauss’s Die Frau ohne Schatten, conducted by Klaus Mäkelä. Two other significant role debuts include her performances as Katerina Lvovna Ismailova (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) in a new production by Barrie Kosky at the Komische Oper Berlin, conducted by James Gaffigan, and as Bianca in Tobias Kratzer’s new production of Zemlinsky’s A Florentine Tragedy at the Hamburg State Opera, conducted by Karina Canellakis. For her role as Katerina Lvovna Ismailova, Ambur Braid has been nominated for the Faust Theater Award in the category Musical Theater Performer.
