Born in Russia, Kseniia Proshina completed her vocal studies with Raisa Gladkova at the Samara Academy of Arts in 2016. She has been a member of the Opéra National de Paris since September 2019.
Starting in 2014, she focused increasingly on the Italian repertoire under the guidance of Alessandro Svab at the Accademia Lirica Santa Croce in Trieste, Italy. She has sung the roles of Gilda in Rigoletto, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, and Adina in L’elisir d’amore. During the 2021–22 season, Kseniia appeared in several productions at the opera houses in Paris and Dijon, including Le nozze di Figaro, L’incoronazione di Poppea, and Parsifal. In the fall of 2022, she sang the role of Juliette in Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Malmö Opera in Sweden and later that same season the title role of Zaide in Rennes and Nantes.
At the Komische Oper Berlin, she most recently appeared as Romilda in Handel’s Xerxes and now returns to the company for the role of the Queen of Shemakha in Der Goldene Hahn.
In 2018, she was a finalist in the »Toti Dal Monte« International Vocal Competition and won several prizes at competitions such as the »Tenor Viñas« in Barcelona and the »Klaudia Taev« in Pärnu, Estonia. Most recently, she won first prize at the »Gianluca Campochiaro« Competition in Italy.
At the start of the 2019/20 season, she participated in the Paris Opera Academy’s tour of China and performed at the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Shenyang Poly Theater, and the Nanjing Jiangsu Art Theater.
In 2021, she sang in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord under the direction of Léo Warynski and in a production by Jeanne Candel, and was the recipient of the AROP Prize. Starting in 2022, she sang Amore in L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Théâtre de l’Athénée Louis-Jouvet and Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro at the Palais Garnier. In 2023, Kseniia appeared as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne. In the fall of 2024, she will make her house debut as Gilda at Oper Frankfurt. During the 2024/25 season, Kseniia was invited to the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto to sing Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, and she will return to the stage of the Malmö Opera as Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème.
