Tommaso Barea
The Venetian baritone Tommaso Barea earned his bachelor’s degree in Treviso, Italy, under Prof. Sherman Lowe. In 2014, he made his debut as the youngest winner of the »European Union Competition« in Spoleto, Italy, in the role of Schaunard in La Bohème, while attending the Festival of Two Worlds Academy in Spoleto. In 2016, he was accepted into the ensemble of the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where he perfected his studies under the guidance of Gianni Tangucci.
In addition, he participated in international masterclasses and opera workshops with, among others, Chris Merrit, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Enza Ferrari, Michele Errico, Marco Berti, and Katia Ricciarelli, and worked with renowned conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Giampaolo Bisanti, Juraj Valcuha, Ricardo Estrada, Guillaume Tourniaire, Giuseppe La Malfa, Matteo Beltrami, Sebastiano Rolli, Nicola Paszkowski, Marco Angius, Philip Walsh, and with directors such as Hugo De Ana, Giancarlo del Monaco, Damiano Michieletto, and Jack Furness.
In recent years, Tommaso Barea has won numerous prestigious national and international competitions, such as the As.Li.Co. Competition for the role of Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, the »Magda Oliviero Opera Competition«, the O.M.E.G. A International Competition, the »Mauro Pagano« International Opera Singing Competition, the »Franco Federici« Competition, the »Rinaldo Pelizzoni« International Opera Competition, the 16th »Giovanni Battista Velluti« International Competition, as well as the »Young Musicians« International Competition and the »CountyAward«. After receiving a »Young Male Talent« award, he participated in the »Ising Beijing« arts project and had the opportunity to perform with an international cast in the cities of Suzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing. In January 2018, he won the Mercedes Viñas Prize at the »Francesco Viñas« Competition in Barcelona.
His current and future engagements include, among others, Il barbiere di Siviglia in Palermo and Paris, Le nozze di Figaro in Sydney and at the Komische Oper Berlin, Don Giovanni at the Metropolitan Opera and the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Così fan tutte in Paris, Agrippina in Hamburg, La Bohème in Macerata, and Werther in Bologna.
