Arturo Gama
Arturo Gama comes from Mexico City, where he studied acting at the Universidad Autónoma de México and at the same time modern dance and ballet at the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico. In 1984, he joined the National Dance Company of Mexico. His career as a dancer took him to the London City Ballet and the Carla Fracci Dance Company in 1989. In 1990 he became a soloist of the ballet company at the Komische Oper Berlin, where he danced until 2002. Since 2005, Arturo Gama has been director of the opera ensemble at the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin. Since then, he has made guest appearances at various theatres with productions of Herzog Blaubarts Burg, Tosca, Hänsel and Gretel and Der Fliegende Holländer, among others. He has worked as an assistant director at the Komische Oper Berlin on several occasions and has worked with directors such as Harry Kupfer, Andreas Homoki, Peter Konwitschny and Willy Decker. In 2003 he made his directorial debut with a production of Die Geschichte des Soldats at the Komische Oper Berlin and in 2015 he choreographed My Fair Lady in collaboration with Andreas Homoki.
