Holy? Nothing to him!

Don Giovanni/Requiem

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Revival

Kirill Serebrennikov completes his Mozart-Da Ponte cycle with what is arguably the most profound of the three comic operas: Don Giovanni seduces, tricks and plays for his life until he suddenly finds himself young and wild, facing death. In his fearless approach to the masterpiece, Serebrennikov shows the dissolute pleasures of the bon vivant as preparations for the afterlife, following Don Giovanni's descent into hell with Mozart's Requiem.

Sex, drugs and Viennese classical music – that was the motto of the congenial duo Mozart and Da Ponte. Like his hot-blooded opera hero, the young wild child Mozart also died an early death from fever. He died at the age of 35 while working on his Requiem.
