Sasha Yankevych

Born in Ukraine in 1991, conductor Sasha Yankevych studied conducting at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. Later he joined the Opera Studio of the Warsaw State Opera and Opera Studio of the Opernhaus Zürich before working as korrepetitor and assistant conductor at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. During those years, Sasha had the opportunity to work with eminent artists such as Fabio Luisi, Andreas Homoki, Jonathan Darlington, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Alan Gilbert, Anne Sofie von Otter, Benjamin Bernheim, Adriana González and many others, incredibly enriching his operatic repertoire. Furthermore, he has worked alongside James Gaffigan as Assistant Conductor at the Verbier Festival, as well as at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía. The 25/26 season will see Yankevych’s conducting debut with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest, as well as at the Opera Nova Bydgoszcz in Poland with Szymanovsky’s Król Roger, and Komische Oper Berlin with a fully staged version of Mozart’s Don Giovanni / Requiem. He will also continue in his post as Kappellmeister at Theater Bremen with Madama Butterfly and return to Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini as part of the Farnese Festival in Parma. Recent seasons have seen Yankevych return to the Hamburgische Staatsoper and the Teatro Comunale di Bologna with Die Fledermaus, and Luglio Musicale Trapanese with L’elisir d’amore; as well as conducting concerts throughout Europe with orchestras such as Orchestre Symphonique Saint-Étienne Loire, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, New Year’s concerts at Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, the Orchestre Symphonique Région Centre-Val de Loire, the MITO Festival in Milano and the Slovak State Philharmonic in Košice.
