Rundfunkchor Berlin
The Rundfunkchor Berlin is one of the world’s outstanding choirs. Three Grammy Awards attest to the quality of its CD recordings. Its broad repertoire, flexible, richly nuanced sound, flawless precision and captivating delivery make this professional choir a partner to major orchestras and conductors, including Kirill Petrenko, Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In 2025, to mark its 100th anniversary, it continued its transdisciplinary productions with Flying Mozart, which broke with the classical concert format and caused an international sensation. These include the staged production of Brahms’ Requiem as human requiem with guest performances in New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Adelaide, among other places. The project LUTHER dancing with the gods with Wilson reflected Luther’s influence on the arts and in the arts in a genre-busting concert performance. The choir is committed to getting many people singing: with the large sing-along concert and the song exchange for school choirs. The educational programme SING! promotes singing in everyday primary school life. With its academy and schola as well as the International Master Class Berlin, the ensemble is committed to supporting young professionals. Since 2015, Gijs Leenaars has been the ensemble’s principal conductor, while Simon Halsey remains associated with the choir as honorary conductor. The Rundfunkchor Berlin is an ensembles of Rundfunk Orchester und Chöre gGmbH.
