Buki Shiff
Buki Shiff was born in Israel and studied at Tel Aviv University. She works as a stage and costume designer for theater, film, television, and opera in Israel, Europe, and the US. She regularly collaborates with directors such as Barrie Kosky, David Alden, Richard Jones, and Robert Carsen. As a costume designer, she has been engaged at opera houses in Milan, Berlin, London, Paris, Vienna, San Francisco, Barcelona, Cologne, Tel Aviv, Zurich, and Madrid, among others. In 2006, she was named Stage and Costume Designer of the Year in Tel Aviv. In 2013, she was named Best Costume Designer at the International Opera Awards. Her works can also be seen in art exhibitions in Israel and Europe. At the Bayerische Staatsoper, she designed the costumes for Les Contes d’Hoffmann, La Calisto, and Semiramide, among others. She also developed the costumes for productions of Sweeney Todd (Tel Aviv), Der fliegende Holländer (Staatsoper Unter den Linden), Lulu (English National Opera), and Wozzeck (Welsh National Opera), among others. She has made repeated guest appearances at the Komische Oper Berlin and was responsible for the costumes in the production of Die Nase in collaboration with Barrie Kosky.
