Stage designer
Korbinian Schmidt
Korbinian Schmidt, born in Munich, studied stage and costume design at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. Since then, he has worked as a freelance stage and costume designer in numerous theatre and opera productions.
He designed costumes and sets for the Burgtheater Vienna, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Schauspielhaus Vienna, the Theater Basel, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Schauspiel Stuttgart, the Schauspielhaus Graz and the Residenztheater Munich, among others.
In the 2024/2025 academic year, he was head of the stage and costume design course at the Academy of Arts in Munich. For his set design for SUN/AIR by Elfriede Jelinek, directed by FX Mayr at the Schauspiel Stuttgart, he was awarded the Faust Prize in the costume category in 2025.

Mit seiner Horváth-Inszenierung Kasimir und Karoline war er zum International Theatre Festival, welches dem 150. Geburtstag Konstantin Stanislawskis gewidmet war, nach Moskau eingeladen. Seine Umsetzung von Thomas Bernhards Ein Kind war auf dem Festival Premières für junge europäische Regie 2013 zu sehen.
