Holger Schwark
Holger Schwark lives in Berlin and works worldwide as a sound designer, sound engineer and music producer for various genres.
A particular focus of his work is the sound reinforcement of acoustic music in unusual environments, often at the interface between optimising the existing acoustics and immersive electro-acoustic amplification. For many years, he has been regularly engaged for orchestra concerts at the Waldbühne in Berlin. Tours have taken him to more than 70 countries. He has worked with orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with bands such as the British Pet Shop Boys. At the Ruhrtriennale festival, he was responsible for the sound design of the productions Die Soldaten (2006), Moses und Aron (2009), Gisela (2010), Tristan und Isolde (2011) and Neither (2014), at the Seefestspiele Berlin for the productions Die Zauberflöte (2011) and Carmen (2012), at the Lincoln Centre Festival in New York for the production Die Soldaten (2008), at the Luminato Festival in Toronto for the production Apocalypsis (2015), at the Berliner Ensemble for the production Die Dreigroschenoper (2021) and at the Nationaltheater Mannheim for the productions Dido and Aeneas and The Lighthouse (2023). His collaboration with the Komische Oper Berlin included the productions Das Floß der Medusa (2023) and Messias (2024).
