Stage and Lightning Designer
Klaus Grünberg
Klaus Grünberg was born in Hamburg and has studied stage design with Erich Wonder in Vienna. Since 1994 he works freelance as set designer and lighting desinger in Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Graz, Lausanne, London, Paris and Kuwait – amongst others with Heiner Goebbels (for example »Max Black«, »Hashirigaki«, Théâtre de Vidy-Lausanne, »Landschaft mit entfernten Verwandten«, Grand Théâtre de Genève), Sebastian Baumgarten, Tatjana Gürbaca (»Turandot«, Graz Opera, »Mavra«, Staatsoper Berlin), André Wilms (»Pulsion«, Théâtre de la Colline, Paris) and Barrie Kosky (»L'Orfeo«, Innsbrucker Festwochen/Staatsoper Berlin).
In 1999 he has inaugurated the MOMOLMA (museum of more or less modern art) in Hamburg. His most recent cooperation with Heiner Goebbels has included set and lighting design for »eraritjaritjaka« at the Théâtre de Vidy-Lausanne.
Klaus Grünberg's first work at the Komische Oper Berlin was the stage set for »The Marriage of Figaro« in the 2004/05 season, which was staged by Barrie Kosky. In the 2006/07 season, he designed the stage set for the production of »Iphigenie on Tauris«.
In the 2007/08 season he designed the set for »Kiss me Kate« at the Komische Oper Berlin.
