Christian Ihle Hadland
Pianist Christian Ihle Hadland came to international attention in 2011 when he began a two-year stint as a BBC New Generation Artist. As a New Generation Artist, he performed with all five BBC symphony orchestras from London to Manchester and gave solo and chamber music concerts in London. At the end of his tenure, Hadland soloed with Beethoven's Second Piano Concerto in a live broadcast at the BBC Proms with the Oslo Philharmonic under Vasily Petrenko.
Hadland made his professional concert debut at the age of 15 with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK). Since then he has performed with all the major orchestras in Scandinavia, including the Swedish Radio and Danish National Symphony Orchestras, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. In the UK he has performed as a concerto soloist with The Hallé, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Manchester Camerata, in addition to his work with the BBC orchestras. In 2013 he undertook a concert tour of the UK with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra under Andrew Litton. Hadland made his debut in the USA in 2013 with the Seattle Symphony.

Hadland is a sought-after chamber musician and as such has been artistic director of the International Chamber Music Festival in his home town of Stavanger since 2010. He performs regularly at the Wigmore Hall, where he gave his first solo concert in 2013, and is a regular guest at the Risør Chamber Music Festival and the Bergen International Festival in Norway. He has also performed at the BBC Proms Chamber Music Series, where he collaborated with the Signum Quartet. In 2015, Hadland undertook a three-week chamber music tour of Australia with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. In 2006, the pianist performed together with soprano Renée Fleming at the Nobel Prize ceremony in Oslo.
Hadland's 2014 recording of Mozart piano concertos with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra was nominated for the Spellemann Prize, the highest award for music recordings in Norway. His recording of the Holberg Variations with Ensemble 1B1, released a year later, was awarded the Spellemann Prize. His most recent recording of works for cello and piano by Grieg and Granger, which he made with Danish cellist Andreas Brantelid, was released by BIS in 2015 and was subsequently named Gramophone Editor's Choice.
Christian Ihle Hadland has worked with renowned conductors including Sir Andrew Davis, Herbert Blomstedt and Thomas Dausgaard.
Hadland was born in Stavanger, Norway and received his first piano lessons at the age of eight. At the age of eleven, he entered the Rogaland Music Conservatory and received both private lessons and lessons as part of his training at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo with Professor Jiri Hlinka.
