A musical fairytale by Sergei Prokofiev
Peter and the Wolf
German and Ukrainian
Jung für alle
Peter, the Duck, Grandfather, the Bird, the Cat, the Wolf, and the Hunters: each with a unique personality, they all have important parts in the story. With his courage and compassion for all living creatures, the young Peter manages to outsmart the dangerous wolf – but without needing to kill him.
In this project, the Komische Oper Berlin collaborates with children from welcome classes at Berlin elementary schools. Over the course of a school semester, we explore Sergei Prokofiev’s concert piece Peter and the Wolf through creative activities. Children who have recently arrived in Germany use music and theater to imaginatively learn the German language. The highlight of the project is the bilingual performance of Peter and the Wolf. It is a moving concert experience to which the children in the welcome classes, along with their parents and the entire school, are invited.
