Evgeny Titov was born in Kazakhstan. After training at the St. Petersburg Theatre Academy, he first worked as an actor in Russia before studying directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. Today, Titov is one of the most sought-after directors in theatre and opera throughout Europe. As an internationally acclaimed director, his work lead him to the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, where he staged the world premiere of Martin Heckmann's Mein Herz ist rein, to the Landestheater Linz, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus (Shakespeare's Macbeth and Richard III, Arthur Miller's The Crucible), Salzburg Festival (Maxim Gorky's Summer Guests) and at the Munich Residence. Among others, he has staged Tri Sestri (Salzburg Festival), Iolanta (Vienna State Opera), King Lear (Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus), Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen (Semperoper Dresden), Tannhäuser (Graz Opera), L'Orfeo (Zurich Opera House), Der Kirschgarten (Hessisches Staatstheater), Le nozze di Figaro (Bavarian State Opera), L'incoronazione di Poppea (Opéra national du Rhin) and Gier unter Ulmen (Residenztheater). Following Œdipe (2021), Titov will stage Richard Strauss’ Salome at the Komische Oper Berlin in the 2025/26 season.
