1. Which opera character have you learned the most form (and what)?
I’ve learned a lot from Hodel from Anatevka. She is a character whose hope is incredibly strong even though she doesn’t live an easy life. From her I’ve learned how important it is to treasure love and freedom in times of trouble. She also stays very close to my heart because she manages to go her own way despite all the tradition surrounding her.
2. What do you sing when no one is listening?
Anything by the Beatles, Sarah Vaughan or Rufus Wainwright.
3. Which profession would you have today if you hadn’t become a singer?
Either a psychotherapist, an author or a pharmacist.
4. Which artistic experience changed everything for you?
Every time I work with Barrie Kosky, everything changes!
5. What do you do after the performance?
After the performance I like to go to the pub or straight home to my kids.
