Opera dolmuş

Whenever the rehearsal schedule allows, a minibus packed with musicians and singers sets off for Berlin’s neighborhoods: the Operndolmuş. In community centers, parish halls, and backyards, it presents specially designed opera programs free of charge, tailored to the audience’s interests and language. Where and when events take place is announced only on posters at local bulletin boards, on postcards in mailboxes, or as a notice in the local newspaper. The unique atmosphere created at these performances, as program director Mustafa Akça says, “can’t be bought—you only get it as a gift”! Now in its 15th year, the Operndolmuş is touring the city with the programs Hadi Bakalım – Let’s Go! and Fatma & Fatoş, inviting everyone to come along for the ride.
