Florian Schmitt

Florian Schmitt has been a fixture in the field of lighting design and lighting programming for national and international productions for many years. Over the course of his career, the Cologne-based artist has put numerous renowned artists and shows in the perfect light, including the Ehrlich Brothers, Matthias Reim, Helene Fischer, Ben Zucker, Die Höhner, Sarah Brightman, Michelle and many more. His creative skills have also been on display for several years at major concert tours such as Disney in Concert, The World of Hans Zimmer, and live formats such as the dance show Let's Dance – The Live Tour and the musical tour productions This is the Greatest Show (since 2025) and Dirty Dancing – Live on Tour (2014–2018). Florian Schmitt is also in demand in the entertainment sector at sea: he is significantly involved in the lighting design of shows such as Musical Dreams and 80s Forever on the AIDA Sphinx-class cruise ships. As an experienced lighting programmer, he also supports other lighting designers on numerous TV productions, including The Voice of Germany, Denn sie wissen nicht, was passiert (Because They Don't Know What's Going to Happen) and Joko&Klaas gegen Pro7 (Joko&Klaas vs. Pro7), as well as high-profile industry and trade fair events for renowned brands such as Porsche and Mercedes-Benz. His greatest successes include the lighting design and programming for the opening ceremony of the SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur (2017), the spectacular stadium show by the Ehrlich Brothers (2019) and his work on the operas Rigoletto (2019/2021) and Der Freischütz (2024/2025) at the Bregenz Festival.
