Dennis Depta, born in Cottbus in 1988, is a dramaturg, performer and musician. With the Berlin (music) theatre group glanz&krawall, he has been blithely seeking confrontation with the rest of society since 2014 – from the high culture of opera to the poetic forlornness of a solo entertainer in the village disco. To this end, he and director Marielle Sterra bring formats of popular culture such as wrestling, circus, punk concerts or trotting races to the theatre and increasingly bring theatre into urban spaces, e.g. in clubs, lidos or psychiatric hospitals. Since 2019, Depta and Sterra have been initiating the inclusive theatre and music festival series BERLIN is not..., for which music acts and performing arts groups alike work on operas by Richard Wagner & CoKG for a wide audience. Since the 2025/2026 season, Depta has been a dramaturg at the Neuköllner Oper. He is the guitarist of the bands SCHROTTI STAR ORCHESTER and KANAL. Depta believes that art comes from being willing, not ability.
