Sabrina Zwach
Sabrina Zwach was born in Heidelberg in 1969. As a dramaturge, author and with her own interdisciplinary projects, she is a well-connected theatre maker in the German-speaking world. She studied cultural studies and aesthetic practice in Hildesheim and began working as a director in the independent theatre scene after graduating. From 1998 to 2000, she worked as a programme curator for »Weimar ’99 – Kulturstadt Europas«.
She curated the 5th »Politik im Freien Theater« festival in Berlin in 2005 (2003-2005) on behalf of the German government. From 2007 to 2008 she was dramaturge for Kurt Krömer's International Show (rbb). She was then part of the artistic direction of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz under Frank Castorf. Since 2008, she has worked as a permanent dramaturge for Herbert Fritsch's productions (including »Murmel Murmel«, »der die mann«, »Pfusch«), as well as a translator and author.
Since 2011, Sabrina Zwach has repeatedly appeared as a freelance dramaturge at various major theatres and opera houses (Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Frankfurt, Zurich). She has interrupted this work with permanent positions at the BERLINER ENSEMBLE and most recently as part of the artistic direction at the Burgtheater in Vienna. She was awarded the German Literature Theatre Prize (1989), won the Munich Short Story Competition (2014) and is a member of the Frankfurt Library of the Brentano Society as a poet. Sabrina Zwach teaches in Munich and Berlin.
