»Ben and Henry« is a traveling chamber opera for primary school pupils about an easygoing bear and a very energetic rooster. Ben the Berlin bear likes it calm and comfortable while the colourful and loud rooster Henry
Ben likes it calm and cozy while Henry is a rather colourful and loud contemporary. On the other hand, as a soprano he sings really beautifully and with him it is certainly never boring. This traveling mini-opera explores an essential human topic in a child-friendly manner: how can and do we live together, even though we are so different?
Since 2014 the opera dolmuş for children has been part of the intercultural project »Selam Opera!« with a musical program for children between the ages of five and eight. Now, for the first time, a commissioned composition has been created that has been appearing in various Berlin schools since November 2018. Thanks to committed sponsors, this is free for the schools. The Izmir-based composer Attila Kadri Şendil set the libretto of Susanne Felicitas Wolf in music and created the 45-minute chamber opera »Ben and Henry«.
