The lyric tenor began his career at the Dresden Staatsoper, then he sang for the Leipzig Opera House and in 1986 he was engaged by the Komische Oper Berlin, where he portrayed such parts as Rodolphe in »La Bohème«, Duke in »Rigoletto«,Turiddu in »Cavalleria rusticana«, the title parts in »Don Carlos and King Hirsch«, Henry in »The Silent Woman« and Jeník in »The Bartered Bride«. In operetta perfomances of the Komische Oper Berlin he was seen as Caramello, Alfred, Eisenstein and Rosillon.
Stephan Spiewok has also performed as guest soloist for the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Dresden Semperoper, in Leipzig and Munich and as concert singer in many European and South American countries as well as in Japan. He is award-winner of the Tchaikovsky- and of the Mario-Del-Monaco-Contest. In 1985 he was appointed as »Chamber Singer«. Stephan Spiewok sang for the Komische Oper Berlin amongst others Feri in »The Gypsy Princess«, Eisenstein in »The Bat«, Minister in »The Princess and the Pea« and Kasimir in the debut performance of the children's opera »The Rider with the Wind in his Hair« by Frank Schwemmer.
