The baritone was born in Krefeld and completed his studies at the Music Academy of Munich in 2005 as a master-class student of Daphne Evangelatos. He was a prize-winner and finalist in various competitions, including the ARD music competition, the Willi-Domgraff-Fassbaender competition, and the Belvedere singing competition. As a concert singer, he has performed at various festivals, including the Schwäbischer Frühling, the Mondsee Festival, the Sagra Musicale Umbra, and the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. He has worked together with artists including Helmut Deutsch and Marcello Viotti, and with orchestras such as that of the Bayerischer Rundfunk and the St Petersburg Philharmonic. In 2004, he became a member of the ensemble at the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, where, alongside roles of the lyric baritone mode, he also sang in such roles as Don Giovanni, Escamillo, and Zurga in Bizet's »Les Pêcheurs des Perles«. He has had guest engagements at the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and Weimar, in Dortmund, Bonn, at the Staatstheater Nürnberg and Mainz, and in Bremen.
At the start of the 2007/08 season, he joined the Komische Oper Berlin. Here he has played such roles as Malatesta, Count Almaviva, Marcel, Kothner, and Prince Yeletsky.
