The Austrian mezzo-soprano studied at the University of Music in Vienna under Gerhard Kahry and Edith Mathis, and completed her studies with distinction. She was a member of the International Opera Studio, Zurich, was a Musica Juventutis prize-winner, and received the prize of the Armin Weltner Foundation, Zurich. Guest engagements brought the artist to the Toulouse Théâtre du Capitole, the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna Klangbogen, the Vienna Volksoper, the Opernhaus Leipzig, the Malmö Opera, the Mannheim Nationaltheater, the Halle Opernhaus, and the Kassel Staatstheater, as well as the Dresden Staatsoperette. Alongside all this, Elisabeth Starzinger, who has dedicated herself intensively to the area of Lieder and oratorios, has held numerous Lieder evenings. She has played Annuis at the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, Dorabella on a tour of Japan, Valencienne at the Mörbisch Lake Festival, and Cherubino at the Munich Gärtnerplatztheater. Since 2002, Elisabeth Starzinger has been an ensemble member at the Komische Oper Berlin, and has already played Oberto in »Alcina«, Amando in »Le Grand Macabre«, and Nancy Waters in »Albert Herring«; Cherubino, Dorabella, Zerlina, Rosina, Donna Elvira, the Muse in »The Tales of Hoffmann«, and Theseus, Octavian, and Medoro in Handel's »Orlando«.
