The tenor was a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor and was offered an engagement at the Staatsoperette Dresden whilst still studying singing at the Dresden Music Academy. Following on from this, he became a member of the Potsdam and Magdeburg theatres, where he played the parts of Belmonte, Don Ottavio, and Tamino. He has been a permanent guest at the Komische Oper Berlin since 1985, where he has sung such roles as that of David in »The Master Singers of Nuremberg«. In 1986, the tenor became a member of the soloist ensemble at the Metropol Theater Berlin. Here he was involved in almost all operetta productions. In 1998, Peter Renz moved to the Komische Oper Berlin, performing in such roles as the Dance Master in »Ariadne on Naxos«, Dr Blind in »The Bat«, Remendado in »Carmen«, Bardolph in »Falstaff«, Mr Upfold in »Albert Herring«, Truffaldino in »The Love for Three Oranges«, Boni in »The Riviera Girl«, Prince John in »Robin Hood«, Second Gangster in »Kiss me, Kate«, Sigismund Sülzheimer in »The White Horse Inn«, and Don Curzio in »The Marriage of Figaro«.
