The Abduction from the Seraglio

Born in Karlsruhe, Anna Eiermann has studied stage design and costumes at the University of Arts in Berlin. Since then, she has worked at all important drama- and opera houses with eminent directors, amongst others with Claus Peymann (»Schlacht um Wien« by Peter Turrini) and Ruth Berghaus (»Der Kaukasische Kreidekreis« by Bertold Brecht) at the Vienna Burgtheater. Her central works in the last years include very different productions, such as »Black Rider« with Michael Simon in Dortmund, »Woyzeck« at the Berlin Schaubühne, several works in Düsseldorf, »Der Ring of the Nibelung« with Gisbert Jäkel in Graz, »Das Käthchen von Heilbronn« with Andrea Breth at the Vienna Burgtheater, the debut performance of Begehren with Reinhild Hoffmann in Graz (guest performance at the RuhrTriennale), »Fidelio« with Nikolaus Lehnhof in Salzburg, »Titus Andronicus« with Hans Neuenfels at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, »Dr. Faustus lights the lights« by Gertrude Stein with Michael Simon at the Berlin Gorki-Theater, the debut performance »L’espace dernier« by Matthias Pintscher at the Opera de la Bastille Paris, as well as works in Hannover. It was also there, where Anna Eiermann cooperated for the first time with Calixto Bieito, for his staging of »La Traviata« (2003).
At the Komische Oper Berlin she has designed the costumes for Calixto Bieito's stagings of »The Abduction from the Seraglio and Madame Butterfly«.
